Sadhana Pada

Sadhana Pada is the second of four Padas of Yoga Sutra. Sadhana Pada lists the means of attainment. It provides the practical aspects of what is defined in Samadhi Padha. Sadhana Pada contains 55 aphorisms (52-106) of the total of 196 aphorisms.

Sutras from 2.1 to 2.25 describe the hindrances and delusions and the ways to get rid of them. The eight limbs of Yoga are explained from Sutra 2.26 to 2.29. Similarly, Sutra 2.30 to 2.45 explains the first two rungs of Yoga namely Yama and Niyama. Sutras from 2.46 to 2.48 deal with Asana; whereas Sutras from 2.49 to 2.53 describe Pranayama. The last two Sutras of Sadhana Pada are bout Pratyahara or sense withdrawl.
